Hawkman and Hawkwoman

A DC Cinematic Universe redesign on Hawkman and Hawkwoman. Part of the upcoming Suicide Squad movie takes place in Hawkman’s own Midway City, so this might not be that out there an idea.

My version of the characters’ ever-changing origin:

“The Hawkmen and Hawkwomen of the planet Thanagar are an elite class of soldier and law enforcement officer, genetically engineered with enhanced strength, healing, and functional wings. Despite having ballistics technology, as an honour-bound warrior culture, Thanagarians generally eschew firearms in favour of melee weapons constructed from the powerful and mysterious Nth Metal found only on their homeworld. Thanagar is a warlike culture, having been in continuous conflict with the Gordanians, and a long-lasting Cold War with the science-loving people of the planet Rann. As a result of these wars, Thanagar has devolved into a fascist police state. Hawkman Katar Hol and his wife and fellow officer Shayera grew dissatisfied with the politics of their world and sought refuge on Earth under the protection of Kal-El of Krypton. Although very right-wing compared to most of their fellow superheroes, Hawkman and Hawkwoman try their best to serve their new planet as champions of law and order.”
